Young family from Saint Petersburg decided to move to a small town to escape big city life for a while and try to live closer to nature.

The one-level house was designed in two variants (a small one and a larger one), both with respect to beautiful birches growing on the plot. The birches became actually a part of the house: you can see them in the middle of terraces and through the large windows of the house.

Two blocks of building are opened to the south, welcoming sun during a day that is highly important in this part of Russia with its small amount of sunny and warm days. Large central terrace is welcoming to spend time there with guests and family members. While three bedrooms look to the eastern morning part of the plot, having their own peaceful terrace surrounded by forest trees.

Non-treated larch – as a very common local material – covers the skeleton of walls and terraces. Grey metal roof and same color windows give a soft contrast with light pallet of wood.
